Efterklang is the name of a Danish rock group formed in December 2000.
The name ‘Efterklang’ comes from the Danish word for remembrance or reverberation. Though it consists of four core members, the group regularly includes three or more members for live gigs and plays orchestral and experimental rock music. Formed in Copenhagen, its four core members are: Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen, Thomas Husmer and Rasmus Stolberg. The original lineup also included Rune Mølgaard, but he has taken a more secluded role since 2007. When performing live, the core four-piece band is complemented with the addition of three to four closely-related live band members.
They have released albums on the British/American record label The Leaf Label, but also have their own record label called Rumraket (the Danish word for space rocket). The Rumraket roster includes one of my favorite bands, Grizzly Bear.
Their new album, Magic Chairs comes out February 22, 2010.
The second is a magical video of Efterklang peforming their song Cutting Ice to Snow with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra in Copenhagen.
